How to use the Live Feed for real-time event announcements

The Live Feed feature in Cadence allows you to share important announcements with attendees in real-time during your event. By posting as an administrator, you can ensure critical information reaches all participants immediately, even when audience participation is disabled. This article explains how to effectively use the Live Feed for time-sensitive announcements.

When to use

  • When you need to communicate schedule changes
  • When sharing important logistical information
  • When highlighting key moments during the event
  • When directing attendees to specific event activities

Before you start

You must have Event Manager or Administrator permissions to post announcements that bypass audience participation restrictions.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence admin dashboard.
Navigate to your event management page.
Select Live Feed from the left navigation menu.
Click the Posts tab at the top of the page.
Click the "+" button to create a new post.
Select the feed where you want to post if you're using Multiple Feed mode.
For critical announcements, post to the Main Feed to ensure maximum visibility.
Enter your announcement in the text field, keeping it clear and concise.
Format your text using bold or italics for emphasis on key information.
Add an image by clicking the attachment icon if it helps convey your message.
Tag relevant menu items by typing @ followed by the menu item name to direct attendees to specific areas.
You can @mention menu items, other Live Feeds, or specific attendees to create interactive announcements.
Pin important announcements by clicking the options menu on your post and selecting "Pin Post" after publishing.
Only one post can be pinned at a time. Pinning a new post will unpin any previously pinned post.
Click Post to publish your announcement immediately.

Troubleshooting

If your post doesn't appear at the top of the feed, check if you have other posts pinned that may be taking precedence. For urgent announcements that need additional visibility, consider also sending a push notification linked to your Live Feed post.
