Set up a countdown timer using a custom date
The countdown timer on your event's Home page helps attendees know when your event begins. While you can use the event's start date for the countdown, sometimes you need to count down to a specific moment that differs from your official event start time. Cadence allows you to set a custom date and time for your countdown through the Home Menu settings.
When to use
When you want to count down to a specific moment within your event (like a keynote speech)
When your event has a soft opening before the official start date
When you want to highlight a special moment or deadline that differs from the event start
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Home" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Find the countdown timer section in the settings panel.
Enable the timer by checking the "Enable Countdown Timer" checkbox.
The countdown timer displays days, hours, and minutes remaining until your specified time.
Select the "use custom date time" radio button.
Click on the date field that appears and select your desired date from the calendar.
Set the specific time for your countdown to target.
Choose a meaningful moment in your event that attendees should be prepared for, such as the start of registration or a featured presentation.
Save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Troubleshooting
If you've enabled the countdown timer but it doesn't appear, check if "Hide event name, date & location display" is also enabled, as this setting will override and disable the countdown timer.
The countdown format changes as the event approaches: "Starts in X days" (more than 24 hours), "Starts in less than a day" (12-24 hours), and "Starting Soon" (less than 12 hours).
