How to use custom labels to improve attendee navigation experience

The Schedule Labels section in Cadence allows you to customize key terminology used throughout your event's schedule interface to enhance attendee navigation. Located in the Schedule Menu › Labels area, this feature helps create a more intuitive experience by replacing generic terms like "Track," "Location," and "Speaker" with terminology that better aligns with your event's specific context and audience expectations.

When to use

  • When creating events with specialized terminology needs
  • When standardizing navigation labels across multiple events
  • When making your event interface more intuitive for specific audiences
  • When localizing your event for different regions or languages
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify schedule labels. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Schedule" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Labels" from the submenu that appears.
Review your event's navigation needs and identify which default labels should be customized.
Consider your attendees' familiarity with industry terminology when choosing custom labels.
Toggle the switch next to "Override Track label" to enable customization.
Enter your preferred terminology for categorizing sessions in the text field.
Common alternatives for "Track" include "Stream," "Path," "Category," or "Theme."
Toggle the switch next to "Override Location label" to enable customization.
Enter your preferred terminology for where sessions take place in the text field.
Common alternatives for "Location" include "Room," "Venue," "Space," or "Meeting Area."
Toggle the switch next to "Override Speaker label" to enable customization.
Enter your preferred terminology for session presenters in the text field.
Common alternatives for "Speaker" include "Presenter," "Facilitator," "Instructor," or industry-specific terms.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Custom labels will appear on web and mobile apps but will continue to show the original labels in the admin interface.
Preview your event to verify how the custom labels appear in navigation elements.
Test the navigation experience on both web and mobile interfaces.

Troubleshooting

If your custom labels aren't appearing in the mobile app, ensure you're using the latest version of the Cadence app (v2.7.387 for iOS or v2.7.404 for Android) and try refreshing your event data.
