The Registration Form in Cadence allows you to configure different registration options for hybrid events, where attendees can choose between in-person and virtual attendance. Through the Registration Menu › Form section, you can create a seamless registration experience that properly assigns attendees to the correct groups based on their attendance type, ensuring they receive the appropriate information and access.
When to use
When organizing events with both in-person and virtual attendance options
When you need to track different types of attendees for capacity planning
When providing different content or experiences based on attendance type
When using group-based permissions for hybrid events
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify registration settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Registration" from the submenu that appears.
Click on the "Form" tab at the top of the page.
Toggle "Enable Registration Form" to turn on the registration form feature.
Disabling this setting will remove the registration form from your event's registration process.
Add a segmentation question by clicking the "+" button.
Select "Multiple Choice" or "Dropdown" as the question type.
Enter a question like "How will you be attending this event?" in the "Question" field.
Add answer options such as "In Person" and "Virtual".
Check "Mark question as required" to ensure all registrants specify their attendance type.
Enable "Group Assignment" for this question by checking the box.
Create your attendance groups (e.g., "Attending In-Person" and "Attending Virtually") in People › Groups before setting up this form if they don't already exist.
Map each answer option to the corresponding attendance group.
Click "Save" to add this segmentation question to your form.
Navigate to "Event Setup" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Event Details" from the submenu.
Set your "Event Type" to "Hybrid" in the event settings.
Configure location details for in-person attendees.
Add virtual access information that will be visible to virtual attendees.
Return to the Registration form and add any attendance-specific questions.
You can create conditional questions that only appear based on the attendance type selected.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply all your changes.
Troubleshooting
If attendees are not being properly assigned to groups based on their attendance selection:
Verify that the "Group Assignment" option is enabled for your attendance type question
Ensure that the groups referenced in your form actually exist in People › Groups
Check that the mapping between answer options and groups is correctly configured
