How to optimize Home page performance with different layout options
The Home page is the central hub of your Cadence event, and selecting the right layout options can significantly impact user experience and performance. Through the Home Menu's Settings tab, you can configure columns, alignment, and visual elements to create an optimized experience that loads quickly and displays effectively across different devices and screen sizes.
When to use
When setting up a new event
When experiencing slow loading times on the Home page
When adding multiple content tiles to your Home page
When optimizing for different device types
Before you start
You need Event Manager or Administrator permissions to modify Home page settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Home" in the left sidebar menu.
Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Choose an efficient column layout from the "Columns (Web Only)" dropdown:
Single Column: Best for fewer tiles and mobile optimization
Two Columns: Balanced for medium content loads
Single Row: Fastest loading for limited content
Two Rows: Efficient for displaying multiple tiles without excessive scrolling
"Single Column" and "Single Row" layouts typically load faster than multi-column/row options when you have many tiles.
Select an alignment option from the "Alignment (Web Only)" dropdown that complements your layout choice.
Consider enabling "Remove Home Tile Overlay" to reduce rendering layers.
Removing the overlay may affect text readability if your tile images have varying colors or contrast.
Enable "Display Scroll bar on Home Tiles" for better navigation with many tiles.
Evaluate whether to use the countdown timer based on performance needs.
The countdown timer adds a small processing load to the page rendering.
Consider hiding event details by checking "Hide event name, date & location display" to reduce rendering elements.
Use the Live Video Tile feature selectively as video content requires more resources to load.
Adjust background opacity for optimal balance between aesthetics and performance:
Check "Gradient Slider Adjust Home Screen Opacity"
Use the slider to set an appropriate opacity percentage
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test your Home page on different devices to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting
If your Home page still loads slowly after optimization, consider reducing the number of tiles or simplifying tile content, particularly avoiding large images or complex media elements.
