The Onboarding menu in Cadence allows you to configure what information attendees will be prompted to provide when they first access your event. Before making your onboarding flow live for all attendees, it's important to test the experience to ensure it functions correctly and collects the information you need.
When to use
After configuring onboarding fields, welcome messages, or terms and conditions
Before sending event invitations to attendees
When testing custom fields in the onboarding process
After making changes to the onboarding sequence
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to test the onboarding flow.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Configure your desired onboarding settings across all tabs (Fields, Settings, Welcome, Terms & Conditions, Video).
Save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of each section.
Return to the main event dashboard.
Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar.
Select "Onboarding" from the submenu.
Click the "Reset Onboarding" tab at the top of the page.
This tab allows you to reset the onboarding experience for specific users or test accounts.
Enter the email address of a test user account in the search field.
You can use your own account or create a test attendee account specifically for this purpose.
Click "Reset Onboarding" next to the selected user.
This will clear any previously completed onboarding data for this user.
Log out of the admin account.
Log in as the test user whose onboarding you reset.
Navigate to the event.
The onboarding flow will automatically start when the user accesses the event.
Complete the onboarding process as an attendee would.
Take notes on any issues or improvements needed.
Log back in to your admin account to make any necessary adjustments.
Troubleshooting
If the test user doesn't see the onboarding flow:
Verify that onboarding is enabled in the Settings tab
Confirm that you successfully reset onboarding for the test user
Check that the test user has the correct permissions to access the event
If custom fields aren't displaying correctly:
Ensure all selected custom fields are properly configured
Verify that "Enable Event-Level Custom Fields" is checked in the Fields tab
