How to create a custom speaker order

Create a Custom Speaker Order

The Speakers feature in Cadence allows you to control how presenters are displayed throughout your event platform. From the Speakers Menu › Settings area, you can switch from alphabetical sorting to a custom order, enabling you to arrange speakers by importance, speaking order, or any other organizational preference that helps attendees navigate your event.

When to use

  • When organizing events with featured or keynote speakers who should appear first
  • When you want to arrange speakers in order of appearance during your event
  • When grouping speakers by role, specialty, or organization
  • When creating a curated speaker showcase with intentional positioning
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify speaker sort settings. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Speakers" in the left sidebar menu.
If you don't see the Speakers option, you may need to enable it first through Event Setup › Menu.
Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the Speakers page.
Choose "Custom order" from the "Sort By" dropdown menu.
Changing from alphabetical sorting to custom order will initially display speakers in their current alphabetical arrangement until you manually reorder them.
Click "Save" to apply this setting change.
Return to the main Speakers list by clicking the "Speakers" tab.
Identify the six-dot drag handle icon to the left of each speaker's name.
Click and hold the drag handle next to a speaker you want to reposition.
Drag the speaker up or down to their new position in the list.
The system automatically saves your custom order as you drag and drop speakers into new positions.
Repeat the drag-and-drop process for each speaker you want to reposition.
Verify your custom order is displayed correctly on both admin and attendee interfaces.

Troubleshooting

If your custom speaker order isn't appearing on the attendee-facing interface, verify that you've clicked "Save" after selecting "Custom order" in the Settings tab and refresh your browser to see the updated display.
