How to Address Color Theme Inheritance Problems

The Color Theme settings in Cadence allow you to customize the visual appearance of your event across web browsers and mobile apps. When color themes don't properly inherit or display consistently, especially for custom menu items, several troubleshooting steps can help resolve these inheritance issues and ensure a unified brand experience for your attendees.

When to use

  • When custom menu items aren't showing your selected color theme
  • When nested menu items display inconsistent colors
  • When colors appear differently on mobile apps compared to web browsers
  • When color changes don't appear after saving
This troubleshooting guide applies to all license types that support color customization (Premium, Premium Pro, and Enterprise).

How to do it

Verify your Cadence mobile app version is current.
The latest versions are v2.7.404 for Android and v2.7.393 for iOS as of July 2025.
Navigate to Event Setup in your Cadence admin dashboard.
Select Color Theme from the left sidebar menu.
Check which color theme option is currently selected (Default Color, Custom Color, or Advanced Colors).
For custom menu items, verify the correct feature type is assigned in Menu settings.
Custom menu items inherit colors from their parent feature type. For example, a custom page will use the Custom Pages color.
For nested menu items, ensure both parent and child items have the same feature type assigned.
Inconsistent colors in nested menus often occur when parent and child items have different feature types.
If using Advanced Colors, verify all features have colors explicitly assigned.
Click "Apply Color to All" to save your changes.
Clear cache and cookies on web browsers and restart mobile apps.
Test your event on web browsers by opening your event's user-facing website.
Test on iOS and Android devices by opening your event in the Cadence mobile app.
Check custom menu items to verify they display the correct colors.

Troubleshooting

If custom menu items still don't display your selected colors correctly after following these steps, try creating a new custom menu item with the same settings to see if the issue persists with newly created items.
