How to troubleshoot visibility issues with menu items
When configuring menu items in Cadence, you may encounter situations where items aren't displaying correctly for certain users or groups. These visibility issues can occur due to incorrect permission settings, configuration errors, or caching problems. This guide will help you identify and resolve common menu visibility problems.
Before you start
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify menu visibility settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Menu" from the submenu that appears.
Locate the menu item with visibility issues in the list.
Click the pencil (edit) icon next to the menu item.
Check the "Visible to" section to verify current settings.
Confirm the toggle switch for the menu item is in the "on" position.
Disabled menu items won't appear for any users regardless of visibility settings.
Review the visibility option selected:
All (everyone can see it)
None (hidden from menu but accessible via direct link)
Specified (only visible to selected groups or attendance types)
If "Specified" is selected, verify the correct groups or attendance types are chosen.
If you select both groups and attendance types with "Specified" visibility, users must meet BOTH criteria to see the menu item.
For nested menu items, check that both the parent and child items have appropriate visibility settings.
Click "Save" to apply any changes you've made.
Test the visibility by previewing the menu as different user types.
Clear your browser cache if changes aren't appearing immediately.
Troubleshooting
If menu items still aren't appearing correctly after configuration:
Verify that users have cleared their browser cache or refreshed the app
Confirm that any referenced custom pages actually exist and are published
Check that the menu item isn't hidden by a parent item with more restrictive visibility settings
Ensure users are correctly assigned to the appropriate groups
