How to coordinate onboarding settings with event registration settings
Coordinate Onboarding Settings with Event Registration Settings
The Onboarding › Settings section in Cadence allows you to align your event registration form fields with the onboarding experience for attendees. By coordinating these settings, you can ensure a seamless transition from registration to first login, avoiding duplicate questions while still collecting all necessary information.
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding and registration settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Review your registration form settings first.
Navigate to People › Registration › Registration Form to see what fields you're already collecting during registration.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Configure the following settings based on your registration form:
Enable Topics
Allow Attendees to set their visibility to private
Enable Terms and Conditions
Check "Enable Topics" if you want attendees to select interest topics during onboarding.
Topics help connect attendees with similar interests and can be used for personalized content recommendations.
Check "Allow Attendees to set their visibility to private" if you want to give attendees control over their profile visibility.
This setting must first be enabled in the People options section of your event.
Check "Enable Terms and Conditions" if attendees need to accept legal agreements before accessing your event.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Navigate to the "Fields" tab to further customize which profile fields appear during onboarding.
Choose "Selected fields" instead of "All fields" to avoid duplicating information already collected during registration.
Only select fields that weren't already collected during registration to prevent asking attendees for the same information twice.
Click "Save" to apply your field selection changes.
Test the full registration-to-onboarding flow by creating a test registration and completing onboarding.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report being asked for the same information twice:
Verify that you've selected only complementary fields in the Onboarding › Fields section
Check that your registration form field mappings are correctly configured
Ensure custom fields are properly mapped between registration and profile settings
