How to access the Groups menu

How to Access the Groups Menu in Cadence

The Groups menu in Cadence allows you to manage attendee groups and control group creation permissions. From the Groups Menu › Settings section, you can configure whether attendees can create their own groups or restrict group creation to administrators only, helping you maintain the right balance between collaboration and control for your event.

When to use

  • When setting up group management for your event
  • When determining who can create groups in your event
  • When reviewing existing group settings
  • When enabling or restricting attendee-created groups

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to access and modify Groups settings.

How to do it

    Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
    Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar menu.
    Select "Menu" from the submenu that appears.
    Click the blue "+" button to add a new menu item.
If Groups is already enabled in your menu, you can skip steps 5-7 and simply find "Groups" in the left sidebar.
    Choose "Groups" from the dropdown list of available menu items.
    Click "Save" to enable the Groups menu for your event.
    Return to the main event dashboard.
    Locate "Groups" in the left sidebar navigation.
    Click on "Groups" to access the main groups interface.
    Select "Settings" from the submenu to configure group-related options.
The Settings section allows you to control whether attendees can create their own groups or if group creation is restricted to administrators.
    Toggle "Allow Users to Create Groups" on or off based on your event requirements.
If you disable this setting, only administrators will be able to create groups, which may limit attendee collaboration.
    Click "Save" to apply your changes.

Troubleshooting

If Groups is not available in your event:
  • Verify you have Admin or Event Manager permissions
  • Confirm the Groups feature is included in your Cadence license type
  • Check that Groups has been added as a menu item in Event Setup > Menu
