Set Up a Welcome Message for Event Onboarding

The Onboarding welcome message is the first screen attendees see when accessing your event for the first time. Creating a personalized welcome message helps set expectations and provides important information about your event experience.

When to use

  • When setting up a new event's onboarding flow
  • When you want to customize the first screen attendees see
  • When you need to provide important event information upfront
  • When branding the event experience to match your organization's style

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding settings.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Welcome" tab at the top of the page.
The Welcome tab is separate from the Fields, Settings, Terms & Conditions, and Video tabs.
Enter a header for your welcome message in the "Header" field.
Keep your header concise and engaging, such as "Welcome to [Event Name]" or "Get Ready for an Amazing Experience".
Type your welcome message in the text editor.
Include key information about your event, what attendees can expect, and any important instructions they should follow.
Format your text using the formatting toolbar to add emphasis, lists, or links.
Add images if desired by clicking the image icon in the toolbar.
Large images may slow down the loading time for attendees. Keep images optimized for web viewing.
Preview how your welcome message will appear by clicking the "Preview" button.
Make adjustments to your content based on the preview.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the welcome message by resetting onboarding for a test user account.
To test, go to the "Reset Onboarding" tab, search for a test user, and click "Reset Onboarding" next to their name.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report not seeing the welcome message:
  • Verify that Event Onboarding is enabled in the Settings tab
  • Confirm you clicked "Save" after making changes
  • Check that the user hasn't already completed onboarding (use Reset Onboarding to test)
