How to set up role-based visibility for Home page elements
The Home page is the central hub for your Cadence event, and you can control which attendees see specific content by configuring role-based visibility settings. Through the Home Menu's Settings tab, you can customize which user groups or attendance types can view particular Home tiles, ensuring relevant content is shown only to appropriate audiences.
When to use
When creating content that should only be visible to specific user groups
When displaying different Home tiles based on attendance type (virtual vs. in-person)
When creating personalized experiences for different attendee segments
When managing sensitive information that requires restricted access
Before you start
You need Event Manager or Administrator permissions to modify Home page visibility settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Home" in the left sidebar menu.
Select the "Home Tiles" tab at the top of the page.
Find the tile you want to restrict visibility for and click the edit (pencil) icon.
Scroll down to the "Visibility" section in the tile settings.
Select "Specified" from the dropdown menu to enable role-based visibility.
The default setting "Everyone" makes the tile visible to all attendees regardless of role or attendance type.
Choose the user groups who should see this tile by checking the appropriate boxes.
Select an attendance type option if you want to further filter visibility:
All Attendance Types: Shows to selected groups regardless of how they're attending
In Person Only: Shows only to selected groups attending physically
Virtual Only: Shows only to selected groups attending virtually
You can create duplicate tiles with different content tailored to each attendance type for a more personalized experience.
Click "Save" to apply your visibility settings to this tile.
Repeat steps 5-10 for any other tiles that need restricted visibility.
Preview your Home page as different user types to verify visibility settings are working correctly.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report not seeing expected Home tiles:
Verify their user group assignment in the People & Groups section
Check that their attendance type matches the tile's visibility settings
Ensure the tile is published and active
