How to permit attendees to update their attendance status
The Attendees Settings section in Cadence allows you to give attendees control over their attendance type (in-person, virtual, or hybrid). By enabling this self-service option, attendees can update their participation method directly from their profile without contacting event administrators, helping you collect accurate attendance information while reducing administrative workload.
When to use
When hosting hybrid events with both in-person and virtual attendance options
When attendees' plans may change before the event
When you want to reduce manual attendance type updates by administrators
When you need accurate counts of in-person versus virtual attendees
Before you start
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify these settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "People" from the left sidebar menu.
Click "Attendees" in the submenu.
Choose the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Scroll down to find the "Allow attendees to update attendee status" option.
Check the box next to this setting to enable it.
This setting is particularly useful for hybrid events where attendees may need to switch between in-person and virtual attendance.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Once enabled, attendees will see an option to update their attendance type in their profile settings.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report they cannot update their attendance status despite the setting being enabled, verify that:
The event is configured as a hybrid event (both in-person and virtual options available)
The attendee is using the latest version of the Cadence platform
The attendee is looking in the correct location (their profile settings)
