The countdown timer on your event's Home page helps attendees know when your event begins, but sometimes it may not display as expected. This article guides you through troubleshooting common countdown timer issues in the Home Menu settings of your Cadence event.
When to use
When your countdown timer isn't appearing on the Home page
When the timer displays incorrect time information
When you need to adjust how the countdown appears to attendees
When you've made changes to the timer settings but they aren't taking effect
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Home" in the left sidebar menu.
Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Verify the timer is enabled by checking that "Enable Countdown Timer" is selected.
The countdown timer displays days, hours, and minutes remaining until your event starts.
Confirm the timer source is correctly set:
Select "use event start date" to automatically use your event's scheduled start time
Select "use custom date time" if you want to count down to a specific moment
Check the "Hide event name" setting is unchecked.
If "Hide event name, date & location display over the Home image" is enabled, the countdown timer will be automatically disabled, as it's part of the event details display.
Verify your event dates are correctly set in the Event Details section.
If using the event start date for your countdown, ensure the event's start date and time are accurate in Event Details.
Save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Preview your Home page by clicking the "Preview" button in the upper right corner.
Refresh your browser if changes don't appear immediately.
Troubleshooting
If the countdown timer still doesn't appear after following these steps:
Ensure your event start date is in the future, as past events won't display a countdown
Check if you're using a layout that supports the countdown timer (all standard layouts should work)
Verify that your column layout is compatible with your other Home page elements
If using a custom date, make sure it's set to a future date and time
