How to configure domain-based registration restrictions

Configure Domain-Based Registration Restrictions

The Registration Menu in Cadence allows you to restrict event registration to specific email domains, ensuring only users with approved company email addresses can register. Through the Registration Menu › Settings section, you can configure domain-based restrictions to control access to your event while maintaining security and exclusivity.

When to use

  • When limiting event access to specific organizations
  • When hosting private events for select companies
  • When preventing registration from unauthorized domains
  • When managing multi-company events with separate domain restrictions

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to configure domain-based registration restrictions.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Registration" from the submenu that appears.
Ensure "Enable Event Registration" is toggled on.
Disabling this setting will remove the registration option from your event entirely.
Select "Private - by Domains" from the "Registration Type" dropdown menu.
Enter the allowed email domains in the field that appears.
Enter domains without the @ symbol (e.g., " eventcadence.com " not "@eventcadence.com"). Separate multiple domains with commas.
Consider enabling "Hide event when not registered" if you want the event to be invisible until registration is complete.
Enter a "Registration Page URL Short Name" to create a custom URL for your registration page.
Check the "Registration restricted message" box to display a custom message to users with unauthorized domains.
Enter your custom message in the text field that appears.
This message will appear when someone with an unauthorized domain attempts to register.
Configure additional registration settings as needed.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.

Troubleshooting

If domain-based restrictions aren't working properly:
  • Verify that domains are entered correctly without the @ symbol
  • Check that "Private - by Domains" is selected as the Registration Type
  • Ensure you've saved your changes after configuring domain settings
  • Test registration with both authorized and unauthorized email domains
