How to understand the limitations of Weglot translations (App translation not supported)

The Integrations menu in Cadence allows you to enable Weglot translations for multilingual event websites, but it's important to understand that this feature has limitations. While Weglot provides powerful translation capabilities for your event website, it does not extend to the mobile app experience, creating a potential gap in your multilingual strategy.

When to use

  • When planning international events with attendees who speak different languages
  • When you need to understand the boundaries of Cadence's translation capabilities
  • When developing a comprehensive multilingual strategy for both web and mobile users
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to access and configure Weglot translation settings.

How to do it

Navigate to your event dashboard in Cadence Admin.
Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Integrations" from the dropdown menu.
Locate the Weglot integration option labeled "Enable Weglot language translations for the event website (App Translation not supported)".
Note the explicit mention that app translation is not supported with Weglot.
Understand that enabling this option will only translate content on your event website, not in the mobile app.
Consider alternative strategies for mobile app users who require translated content.
For mobile app users, consider using the native language settings available in Cadence, which can translate some static interface elements but not custom content.
Plan your content strategy accordingly, knowing that mobile app users will have a different language experience than web users.
Communicate these limitations to your event team and attendees to set proper expectations.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report inconsistent translation experiences between web and mobile:
  • Remind them that Weglot only translates the website version
  • Direct mobile users to the app's native language settings for limited interface translation
  • Consider providing pre-translated materials in the app for critical content
