Manage Onboarding Settings Across Web and Mobile Platforms
The Onboarding menu in Cadence allows you to configure what information attendees must provide when they first access your event. When properly configured, your onboarding flow should function consistently across web browsers, iOS devices, and Android devices, ensuring all attendees have a smooth experience regardless of which platform they use.
When to use
When setting up a new event's onboarding process
When testing your onboarding flow before launching an event
When troubleshooting inconsistent onboarding experiences between platforms
When ensuring custom fields display and function properly on all devices
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding field settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Review the available settings options:
Enable Topics
Allow Attendees to set their visibility to private
Enable Terms and Conditions
Check "Enable Topics" if you want attendees to select interest topics during onboarding.
Topics help connect attendees with similar interests and can be used for personalized content recommendations.
Check "Allow Attendees to set their visibility to private" if you want to give attendees control over their profile visibility.
This setting must first be enabled in the People options section of your event.
Check "Enable Terms and Conditions" if attendees need to accept legal agreements before accessing your event.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test your settings on multiple platforms by resetting onboarding for a test user.
Access the event using different devices (web browser, iOS app, Android app) to verify consistent behavior.
Verify that all configured fields and options appear correctly on each platform.
Troubleshooting
If onboarding doesn't work consistently across platforms:
Ensure all custom fields are compatible with mobile platforms
Verify that video content is in a mobile-supported format (MP4)
Check that required fields don't contain validation errors
Confirm that the latest version of the Cadence mobile app is installed
