How to optimize Home tile content for different layouts

The Home page layout options in Cadence determine how your content tiles appear to attendees. By optimizing your tile content for specific layouts (Single Column, Two Columns, Single Row, or Two Rows), you can create a more engaging and visually appealing experience. This article explains how to tailor your Home tile content to work effectively with each layout option available in the Home Menu's Settings tab.

When to use

  • When setting up a new event's Home page
  • When changing your Home page layout
  • When adding new content tiles
  • When refreshing your event's visual appearance

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Home" in the left sidebar menu.
Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Choose your layout from the "Columns (Web Only)" dropdown:
  • Single Column
  • Two Columns
  • Single Row
  • Two Rows
Review your existing tiles by clicking the "List" tab.
    Optimize for Single Column layout:
  • Use wider images for your tiles (recommended 16:9 ratio)
  • Prioritize content with most important tiles at the top
  • Limit text length on text tiles to prevent excessive scrolling
For Single Column layouts, consider using the "Centered" alignment option to create a more balanced appearance.
    Optimize for Two Columns layout:
  • Use square or slightly rectangular images (3:2 ratio works well)
  • Balance content between columns with similar-sized tiles
  • Group related tiles side by side for logical organization
Two Columns layout works best when you have 6-12 tiles to display.
    Optimize for Single Row layout:
  • Use narrow, rectangular images (2:3 or 1:2 ratio)
  • Keep text brief on each tile to maintain readability
  • Limit the number of tiles to 4-6 for best visibility
Single Row layouts can become horizontally scrollable if too many tiles are added, which may hide content from users.
    Optimize for Two Rows layout:
  • Use consistent image sizes across all tiles
  • Create visual hierarchy with larger tiles for important content
  • Consider tile order carefully as users read left-to-right, top-to-bottom
Preview your changes by clicking the "Preview" button in the upper right corner.
Make adjustments to tile content and images based on how they appear in the preview.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.

Troubleshooting

If your tiles appear crowded or text is difficult to read, try reducing the number of tiles, using images with better contrast, or enabling the "Remove Home Tile Overlay" option for clearer visuals.
