How to scan leads at an event

Lead scanning allows you to capture attendee information at conferences by scanning badges with your mobile device. When properly configured, you can collect contact details, add notes, and even match leads with existing customer profiles in your database. This guide walks you through the process of scanning leads at your event using the Cadence mobile app.

When to use

  • When you need to capture attendee information quickly
  • When tracking booth visitors during an event
  • When you want to match scanned leads with existing customer profiles
You must have the Cadence mobile app installed and be logged in to scan leads.

How to do it

    Open the Cadence mobile app on your device.
    Navigate to your event.
    Tap the scanner icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
You can also access the scanner by going to Leads → My Leads → "+" → Scan a Lead.
    Position your camera over the attendee's badge QR code.
    Wait for the app to recognize and scan the code.
Always scan through the Cadence app, not your phone's native camera. The native camera will not properly process the badge data.
    Review the captured lead information that appears on screen.
    Add any additional notes or select category tags if configured.
    Tap "Save" to store the lead.
    Verify the lead appears in your "My Leads" list.
    Check the "Matching" tab if Customer Matching is enabled to see potential matches with existing customers.
If Customer Matching is enabled with an Ensemble form selected, confirming a match will automatically create an engagement record.
    Confirm or reject suggested matches by reviewing the profiles and clicking the appropriate button.

Troubleshooting

If lead scanning isn't working properly:
  • Verify that your event has purchased the correct developer kit from the event organizer
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  • Check that you're using the latest version of the Cadence mobile app
  • If you receive a "Connection Issue" message, this could be due to a temporary provider issue or weak network connection
