How to identify speaker roles and responsibilities

Identify Speaker Roles and Responsibilities

The Speakers feature in Cadence allows you to define and manage the roles and responsibilities of presenters at your event. From the Speakers Menu › Settings area, you can establish clear expectations for your speakers, ensuring they understand their contributions to sessions and how they'll be presented to attendees throughout your event platform.

When to use

  • When organizing events with multiple presenters who have different roles
  • When you need to clarify speaker expectations before an event
  • When assigning speakers to specific types of sessions
  • When creating a structured presentation program with defined speaker responsibilities

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to access and modify Speaker settings. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Speakers" in the left sidebar menu.
If you don't see the Speakers option, you may need to enable it first through Event Setup › Menu.
Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the Speakers page.
Create a document outlining speaker roles and responsibilities.
Define clear expectations for each speaker type (keynote, panelist, moderator, etc.).
When adding speakers to schedule items, they are automatically populated to the Event Speakers Menu.
Establish time commitments and preparation requirements for each role.
Determine how speakers will be sorted in the interface using the "Sort By" dropdown:
  • Choose "A-Z (Last Name)" for alphabetical sorting
  • Choose "Custom order" to manually arrange speakers by importance or speaking order
Click "Save" to apply your settings.
Share your speaker role definitions with your presenters.
Changing the sort order after custom arrangement will reset any manual ordering you've created.
Assign speakers to schedule items based on their defined roles.
Review speaker profiles to ensure they reflect the assigned responsibilities.

Troubleshooting

If speakers aren't appearing in the correct order despite your sort settings, verify that you've clicked "Save" after making changes and refresh your browser to see the updated display.
