The Groups feature in Cadence allows you to control which content is visible to specific attendee segments. From the Groups Menu › Settings section, you can configure visibility permissions that determine which groups can access specific schedule items, collections, and menu items, creating a personalized experience for different attendee types while protecting sensitive information.
When to use
When sharing sensitive materials with specific attendee groups
When creating role-specific content libraries
When controlling access to restricted sessions or schedule items
When personalizing the event experience for different attendee segments
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to configure group-based content access controls.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Groups" from the left sidebar menu.
Create the necessary groups for your access control strategy.
Plan your group structure carefully before implementing content restrictions to ensure a coherent access control system.
Add members to each group based on who should have access to specific content.
Navigate to the content you want to restrict (Schedule, Collections, or Menu items).
Select the item you want to control access to.
Click the "Edit" button for that item.
Locate the "Visible to" or "Visibility" section in the settings.
Select "Specified" from the visibility options.
Once you select "Specified," the content will only be visible to the groups you choose and will be hidden from everyone else.
Choose the specific groups that should have access to this content.
Click "Save" to apply your visibility settings.
Repeat steps 6-12 for each content item that requires restricted access.
Test your access controls by logging in as users from different groups.
Content visibility settings apply across all areas of Cadence, including web and mobile interfaces.
Return to Groups › Settings to verify or modify who can create groups.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report they cannot see content:
Verify they are assigned to the correct groups that have access
Confirm the content item is set to "Published" status, not "Draft"
Check that both the parent menu item and the content itself have compatible visibility settings
