Coordinate Notification Settings with Other Communication Channels

The Notifications Settings page in Cadence allows you to align your notification strategy with other communication channels used during your event. By strategically configuring Schedule Reminders, Live Feed notifications, and Messaging Channels alerts alongside email communications and in-person announcements, you can create a cohesive communication plan that keeps attendees informed without overwhelming them.

When to use

  • When planning your overall event communication strategy
  • When coordinating multiple information channels (app, email, signage)
  • When managing notification volume across different platforms
  • When creating a balanced communication experience for attendees

Before you start

You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify notification settings.

How to do it

Navigate to your event dashboard in Cadence.
Select "Notifications" from the left sidebar menu.
Click the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Review your existing notification settings to understand what's currently enabled.
Create a communication plan document listing all channels you'll use during your event.
Include email campaigns, signage, announcements, and app notifications to visualize your complete communication strategy.
Enable Schedule Reminders by checking the box if appropriate for your strategy.
Select an appropriate reminder time from the dropdown menu based on your venue size and other communications.
Choose longer times (25-60 minutes) for large venues where attendees need more travel time between sessions, and shorter times (5-15 minutes) for compact venues.
Consider your Live Feed notification strategy based on other social engagement tools.
When enabled, attendees receive notifications for all Live Feed posts, which can quickly lead to notification fatigue if you're also using other social platforms.
Configure Messaging Channels notifications based on your overall communication plan.
Private channel members always receive notifications regardless of this setting, so this only affects public channel notifications.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your settings.
Schedule manual notifications to complement other communication channels rather than duplicate them.
Coordinate timing between push notifications and email communications to avoid overwhelming attendees.
Space communications at least 2-3 hours apart across different channels when possible.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report receiving too many communications:
  • Reduce the frequency of manual notifications
  • Disable Live Feed notifications if using other social platforms
  • Consolidate information into fewer, more comprehensive communications
If attendees report missing important information:
  • Verify they haven't disabled push notifications on their devices
  • Confirm they have the latest version of the Cadence mobile app (v2.7.404 for Android or v2.7.393 for iOS)
  • Use multiple channels for critical announcements to ensure delivery
