The Onboarding menu in Cadence allows you to design a comprehensive multi-step experience for attendees when they first access your event. By configuring various components across the Fields, Welcome, Terms & Conditions, and Video tabs, you can create a structured flow that collects necessary information while providing a smooth introduction to your event.
When to use
When you need to collect specific profile information from attendees
When you want to provide a guided introduction to your event
When legal agreements or terms must be accepted before participation
When you want to create a branded, professional first impression
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to configure the onboarding experience.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Configure the welcome screen first:
Click the "Welcome" tab
Enter a header for your welcome message
Type your welcome content in the text editor
Click "Save"
Set up custom fields collection:
Click the "Fields" tab
Check "Enable Event-Level Custom Fields" if needed
Choose "All fields" or "Selected fields" based on your requirements
Select specific fields if you chose "Selected fields"
Click "Save"
Limit the number of required fields to improve completion rates.
Add terms and conditions if required:
Click the "Terms & Conditions" tab
Enter a header for your terms
Type your terms content in the text editor
Click "Save"
Consider having your legal team review the content before publishing to ensure it meets all compliance requirements.
Include a video introduction if desired:
Click the "Video" tab
Enter a header for your video
Select an existing video from your materials library or upload a new one
Click "Save"
Video materials added via embedded code, YouTube or Vimeo URL are not supported on mobile apps for playback within onboarding.
Adjust the sequence order in the "Settings" tab if needed.
Test the complete onboarding flow:
Go to "Event Setup" > "Onboarding" > "Reset Onboarding"
Search for a test user account
Click "Reset Onboarding" next to their name
Log in as that user to experience the flow
Troubleshooting
If attendees report being unable to complete onboarding, check that all required fields are properly configured and don't contain validation errors.
If videos aren't playing properly on mobile devices, ensure you're using direct video uploads rather than embedded links.
If the "here" link for editing custom fields returns a 404 error, navigate directly to People > Custom Fields in the left sidebar.
