Create Conditional Questions in Your Registration Form
The Registration Form feature in Cadence allows you to create dynamic forms with conditional logic that shows or hides questions based on attendees' previous answers. Through the Registration Menu › Form section, you can set up clarification questions that appear only when specific answers are selected, creating a personalized registration experience.
When to use
When collecting different information from different types of attendees
When certain questions are only relevant based on previous responses
When creating a streamlined registration experience that adapts to each attendee
When segmenting attendees into different paths based on their responses
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to configure conditional logic in registration forms.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Registration" from the submenu.
Click on the "Form" tab at the top of the page.
Toggle "Enable Registration Form" to turn on the registration form feature.
Click the "+" button to add a new parent question.
Select a question type that supports conditional logic (Single-Select Dropdown or Multiple Choice).
Single-select dropdown or radio button questions work best as parent questions for conditional logic.
Enter your question text and add answer options.
Click the "Create Path" button next to an answer option.
Define the nested question that should appear when an attendee selects this specific answer.
Select the appropriate question type for your nested question.
Add answer options for the nested question if applicable.
Repeat steps 10-13 for each answer option that requires a unique follow-up question.
Preview the conditional flow by expanding the parent question to see all nested paths.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
If you map multiple questions to the same profile field, the system will prioritize values from the topmost question in the builder, falling back to the next if blank.
Troubleshooting
If conditional questions aren't appearing during testing, ensure the parent question is properly configured with the "Create Path" option for each relevant answer.
If you need to create the same follow-up question for multiple answer options, you'll need to recreate it for each path as the system treats each path independently.
