Use Notifications to Drive Attendee Engagement
The Notifications Settings page in Cadence provides powerful tools to boost attendee engagement throughout your event. By strategically configuring Schedule Reminders, Live Feed notifications, and Messaging Channels alerts, you can create a communication strategy that keeps attendees informed and actively participating without overwhelming them with too many notifications.
When to use
When planning your event communication strategy
When seeking to increase attendee participation in sessions
When promoting social interaction through the Live Feed
When encouraging communication in messaging channels
Before you start
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify notification settings.
How to do it
Navigate to your event dashboard in Cadence.
Select "Notifications" from the left sidebar menu.
Click the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Enable Schedule Reminders by checking the box if not already enabled.
Schedule reminders are crucial for reducing no-shows and ensuring attendees don't miss important sessions.
Select an appropriate reminder time from the dropdown menu based on your venue size.
Choose longer times (25-60 minutes) for large venues where attendees need more travel time between sessions, and shorter times (5-15 minutes) for compact venues.
Consider enabling Live Feed notifications if social engagement is a priority for your event.
When enabled, attendees receive notifications for all Live Feed posts, which can quickly lead to notification fatigue during active events. Use this setting selectively.
Configure Messaging Channels notifications based on your event's communication needs.
Private channel members always receive notifications regardless of this setting, so this only affects public channel notifications.
Create a test notification to verify your settings work as expected.
Send targeted notifications at strategic times to drive specific behaviors:
Before networking events to encourage participation
To highlight popular Live Feed discussions
To direct attendees to underutilized event features
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report not receiving notifications:
Verify they haven't disabled push notifications on their devices
Confirm the notification settings are properly saved in your event
Check that attendees have the latest version of the Cadence mobile app (v2.7.404 for Android or v2.7.393 for iOS)
