Manage Registration When Using External Registration URLs
The Registration Menu in Cadence allows you to redirect attendees to third-party registration platforms while maintaining visibility in your Cadence event ecosystem. Through the Registration Menu › Settings section, you can configure your event to use external registration URLs when you need to leverage features from platforms like Cvent, Eventbrite, or your own custom registration system.
When to use
When using a third-party platform for registration processing
When you need payment features not available in Cadence
When registration is handled by another department or system
When you want to maintain existing registration workflows
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify registration settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Registration" from the submenu that appears.
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Verify that "Enable Event Registration" is toggled on.
Disabling this setting will prevent attendees from registering for your event entirely.
Select "Public - External Registration URL" from the "Registration Type" dropdown menu.
Enter the full URL of your external registration system in the field that appears.
Use a URL that leads directly to the registration form to minimize clicks for your attendees.
Enter a "Registration Page URL Short Name" to create a custom URL for your registration redirect page.
Consider enabling "Hide event when not registered" if you want the event to be invisible until registration is complete.
Configure the "External Registration Message" that will appear when users click the register button.
This message informs users they're being redirected to an external site and that their registration status won't be reflected in Cadence until updated.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report issues with the external registration link:
Verify the external URL is correct and functioning
Check that the external system is properly configured to accept registrations
Ensure any authentication requirements for the external system are clearly communicated to attendees
