How to configure minimum selections for schedule items

Configure Minimum Selections for Schedule Items

The Schedule Registration feature in Cadence allows you to set requirements for how many schedule items attendees must select during event registration. Through the Registration Menu › Schedule section, you can configure minimum selection requirements to ensure attendees engage with a specific number of sessions, helping you plan for balanced attendance across your event activities.

When to use

  • When you want to ensure attendees register for a minimum number of sessions
  • When organizing events with multiple sessions that require balanced attendance
  • When you need to guarantee participation in certain event activities
  • When structuring registration to encourage engagement with event content

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify registration settings.

How to do it

    Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
    Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
    Select "Registration" from the submenu that appears.
    Click on the "Schedule" tab at the top of the page.
    Toggle "Allow Schedule Selection During Event Registration" to enable this feature.
Disabling this setting will remove the schedule selection option from your event's registration process.
    Check the "Minimum Selections" box to require attendees to select a minimum number of schedule items.
    Enter the minimum number of required selections in the field that appears.
Setting a reasonable minimum (such as 1-3 items) ensures engagement without overwhelming attendees or causing registration abandonment.
    Consider whether to also set a maximum selection limit based on your event needs.
    Click "Save" to apply your changes.
The system will display a brief "Saved" confirmation when your settings are successfully applied.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report being unable to complete registration due to minimum selection requirements:
  • Verify that enough schedule items with registration enabled are available for selection
  • Check that schedule items have the correct visibility settings for the attendee groups
