How to configure lead matching criteria and thresholds
The Lead Matching feature in Cadence allows you to set specific criteria and confidence thresholds that determine when the system suggests potential matches between scanned leads and existing customer profiles. By configuring these settings in the Leads Menu › Matching section, you can fine-tune the matching algorithm to balance between finding all possible matches and reducing false positives.
When to use
When you need to adjust the strictness of lead-to-customer matching
When you want to customize which fields are prioritized in the matching process
When you need to improve match accuracy for your specific data patterns
When preparing for events with unique naming conventions or international attendees
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to configure matching criteria.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Leads" from the left sidebar navigation.
Click on "Settings" from the Leads submenu.
Scroll down to the "Customer Matching" section.
Check the "Enable Customer Matching" box.
If enabled, the system will match leads to customers, and if an Ensemble form is selected, an engagement will automatically be added to the customer's engagement activity.
Click the "Advanced Matching Settings" button to expand additional options.
Set the confidence threshold using the slider.
Higher thresholds reduce false positives but may miss potential matches. Lower thresholds catch more possible matches but may include incorrect suggestions.
Select which fields to prioritize in the matching algorithm:
Name (First/Last)
Email
Company
Title
Adjust the weight of each field using the percentage sliders.
The total weight across all fields must equal 100%.
Configure fuzzy matching tolerance for names to account for typos or variations.
Enable or disable domain matching for emails.
Domain matching can help identify leads who work at the same company but have different email addresses.
Click "Save" to apply your matching criteria settings.
Test your configuration by scanning a sample lead and reviewing the suggested matches.
Troubleshooting
If your matching results are not as expected:
Verify that the confidence threshold isn't set too high or too low
Check that field weights align with your data quality (prioritize fields with the most reliable data)
Ensure that fuzzy matching is enabled if dealing with international names or common misspellings
Confirm that the lead data contains sufficient information to enable matching
