How to resolve issues with Collection visibility

When attendees report they cannot see collections or specific content, the issue often stems from visibility settings configured in the Collections Menu › Settings area. These settings control who can access collections and their contents, ensuring sensitive materials are only visible to appropriate attendee groups while making general resources available to everyone.

When to use

  • When attendees report they cannot see specific collections
  • When content appears for some users but not others
  • When published collections are not displaying as expected
  • When testing visibility settings before an event goes live

Before you start

You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify collection visibility settings.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Collections" from the left sidebar navigation.
Verify collection status by checking if the collection shows as "Published" rather than "Draft".
Only collections with "Published" status are visible to attendees, regardless of visibility settings.
Click on the collection that's having visibility issues.
Click the "Edit" button in the top right corner.
Check the "Visible to" setting in the collection configuration.
If set to "Specified," the collection will only be visible to the groups or attendance types you've selected.
Review the selected groups or attendance types if "Specified" is chosen.
If you've selected both groups and attendance types with "Specified" visibility, users must meet BOTH criteria to see the collection.
Verify that attendees are assigned to the correct groups that have access.
Confirm the collection is included in the event menu configuration.
Even with correct visibility settings, attendees need a way to navigate to collections through the menu.
Check individual content visibility settings by clicking on specific content items.
Content visibility cannot be broader than its parent collection. If a collection is restricted to specific groups, its content cannot be made available to everyone.
Ensure the Collections menu item is enabled and visible to appropriate attendees.
Test visibility by logging in as a test user from each attendee group.
Click "Save" after making any changes to visibility settings.

Troubleshooting

If collections still aren't appearing for attendees:
  • Verify you're using the latest app version (iOS 2.7.393+ or Android 2.7.404+)
  • Force close and restart the Cadence app on mobile devices
  • Clear browser cache if accessing via web
