Duplicate Onboarding Settings When Copying Events
The Onboarding feature in Cadence allows you to configure what information attendees will be prompted to provide when they first access your event. When duplicating events, you can save time by copying the entire onboarding configuration, including custom fields, welcome messages, terms and conditions, and video content from an existing event.
When to use
When creating a new event based on an existing event template
When running a recurring event with similar onboarding requirements
When standardizing the onboarding experience across multiple events
When you want to maintain consistent branding and messaging in your onboarding flow
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to duplicate events and their onboarding settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select the event you want to duplicate from your events list.
Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar.
Select "Details" from the submenu.
Click the "Duplicate Event" button near the top of the page.
Enter a name for your new event in the "Event Name" field.
Check the "Onboarding" checkbox in the list of features to copy.
You can select multiple features to copy simultaneously, such as Schedule, Home, and Custom Pages.
Review other settings you may want to copy along with onboarding.
Click "Duplicate" to create the new event with the copied onboarding settings.
Navigate to the new event's dashboard after duplication completes.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar to verify the copied settings.
Review each onboarding tab (Fields, Settings, Welcome, Terms & Conditions, Video) to ensure all content transferred correctly.
Make any necessary adjustments to customize the onboarding for your new event.
Save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of each section.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter an error when duplicating an event with onboarding enabled, try unchecking other features that might be causing conflicts, then duplicate again with only essential features selected.
Custom fields that reference specific event content (like schedule items or speakers) may need to be updated in the new event if those referenced items weren't also duplicated.
