The Attendees Settings section in Cadence provides powerful controls to balance networking and engagement for your event participants. By strategically configuring visibility options, communication features, and profile display preferences, you can create an environment that encourages meaningful connections while respecting privacy boundaries.

When seeking to increase attendee interaction

Before you start
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify these settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "People" from the left sidebar menu.
Click "Attendees" in the submenu.
Choose the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Enable networking features by checking "Enable Public Profiles."
Public profiles are essential for networking but consider balancing with privacy options below.
Configure privacy boundaries based on your audience preferences:
Check "Disable Email Visibility" to hide email addresses
Check "Disable Phone Number Visibility" to hide phone numbers
Set up communication channels to facilitate engagement:
Check "Enable Video Chat" to allow attendees to video chat with each other
Check "Enable Direct Messaging" to allow attendees to message each other
Determine connection requirements for communications:
Check "Only Connections" under messaging or video chat to require attendees to connect first
Requiring connections creates a consent-based networking model that many attendees prefer.
Give attendees control over their experience:
Check "Allow attendees to become hidden" to let privacy-conscious participants opt out
Check "Allow attendees to update attendee status" to let attendees change between virtual/in-person
Select the optimal directory view for your event type:
Choose "Profile View" for networking-focused events (shows photos prominently)
Choose "List View" for information-focused events (displays more data per screen)
Profile View generally drives more engagement as faces create stronger connections.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Communicate these networking features to attendees in your welcome materials.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report difficulty connecting with others:
Verify "Enable Public Profiles" is checked
Confirm attendees haven't set themselves to hidden
Check that "Only Connections" restrictions aren't too limiting for your event type
