Ensure Onboarding is Accessible Across All Devices

The Onboarding menu in Cadence allows you to create a consistent experience for attendees regardless of which device they use to access your event. When configuring video content in the Onboarding › Video section, it's important to ensure compatibility across web browsers, iOS devices, and Android devices to provide a smooth onboarding experience for all attendees.

When to use

  • When adding video content to your onboarding process
  • When attendees will access your event from multiple device types
  • When troubleshooting inconsistent onboarding experiences
  • When preparing for events with diverse technical audiences

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding settings.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Video" tab at the top of the page.
Check the "Add Video to Onboarding" box to enable video content.
Enter a concise header in the "Header Text" field.
Keep your header text brief and welcoming, such as "Welcome!" which is the default text.
Upload a video file directly to Cadence rather than using embedded code or external URLs.
Video materials added via embedded code, YouTube or Vimeo URLs are not supported on mobile apps for playback within onboarding.
Keep your video file under 100MB and in MP4 format for optimal cross-device compatibility.
Enable HLS streaming for smoother playback if you have an @eventcadence.com account.
HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) adapts video quality based on the viewer's connection speed, providing better performance on mobile devices.
Set the video resolution to 720p or lower for compatibility across devices.
Preview your video on both desktop and mobile devices before publishing.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the onboarding flow on multiple device types by resetting onboarding for a test account.
Verify that the video plays correctly on web browsers, iOS, and Android devices.

Troubleshooting

If onboarding video doesn't work consistently across platforms:
  • Clear cache and cookies on web browsers and restart mobile apps
  • Verify that the video file is in MP4 format and under 100MB
  • Ensure attendees have the latest version of the Cadence mobile app (v2.7.414 or higher for Android, v2.7.393 or higher for iOS)
  • Check that the onboarding flow is enabled in the Settings tab
