How to link to custom pages through menu items

The Menu section in Cadence allows you to create navigation links to custom pages you've built for your event. From the Menu page, you can add custom pages as standalone menu items or include them within nested dropdown menus, making your custom content easily accessible to attendees through your event's main navigation.

When to use

  • When you've created custom pages that need to be accessible from the main menu
  • When organizing related custom pages under a dropdown menu
  • When you want to highlight important information in a prominent navigation position
  • When creating specialized content for specific attendee groups
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to add custom pages to your menu.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Menu" from the submenu that appears.
Click the "Create Custom Menu Item" button at the top of the page.
Enter a name for your menu item in the "Menu Label" field.
Use clear, descriptive names that help users understand what content they'll find on the page.
Select an icon from the dropdown to visually represent your menu item.
Choose "Custom Page" from the Navigation Type dropdown.
Select your custom page from the "Page" dropdown that appears.
Only published custom pages will appear in this dropdown list.
Set visibility by choosing who can see this menu item:
  • All (everyone can see it)
  • None (hidden from menu but accessible via direct link)
  • Specified (only visible to selected groups or attendance types)
Select specific groups or attendance types if you chose "Specified" visibility.
If you select both groups and attendance types with "Specified" visibility, users must meet BOTH criteria to see the menu item.
Click "Save" to create your custom menu item.
Verify your new menu item appears in the menu list.
Use the drag handles (six dots) to reorder the menu item if needed.

Troubleshooting

If your custom page doesn't appear in the dropdown list, verify that it has been published. Unpublished custom pages cannot be linked in the menu.
If attendees report they cannot see a menu item linking to a custom page, check the visibility settings to ensure they meet the criteria you've specified.
