Set Minimum and Maximum Schedule Item Selections
The Registration Menu in Cadence allows you to control how many schedule items attendees must or can select during event registration. Through the Registration Menu › Settings section, you can configure minimum and maximum selection requirements to ensure attendees engage with the right number of sessions, helping you manage capacity and ensure balanced attendance across your event activities.
When to use
When requiring attendees to select a specific number of sessions
When limiting how many sessions each attendee can register for
When managing capacity across multiple sessions
When creating a structured registration experience with controlled choices
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify registration settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Registration" from the submenu that appears.
Click on the "Schedule" tab at the top of the page.
Toggle "Allow Schedule Selection During Event Registration" to enable this feature.
Disabling this setting will remove the schedule selection option from your event's registration process.
Check the "Minimum Selections" box to require attendees to select a minimum number of schedule items.
Enter the minimum number of required selections in the field that appears.
Setting a reasonable minimum (such as 1-3 items) ensures engagement without overwhelming attendees or causing registration abandonment.
Check the "Maximum Selections" box to limit how many schedule items attendees can select.
Enter the maximum number of allowed selections in the field that appears.
Leave this field blank if you want to allow unlimited selections after meeting the minimum requirement.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Preview your registration form to see how the requirements appear to registrants.
The system will automatically display messages like "You must choose at least 1 and can choose up to 3 from this section to complete your registration" based on your settings.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report being unable to complete registration due to minimum selection requirements:
Verify that enough schedule items with registration enabled are available for selection
Check that schedule items have the correct visibility settings for the attendee groups
Ensure that schedule items have registration enabled in their individual settings under Schedule → Options → "Enable Registration and waitlist"
