Explain Notification Behaviors to Event Attendees

The Notifications Settings page in Cadence allows you to explain to attendees how they'll receive automated alerts during your event. By understanding the notification behaviors for Schedule Reminders, Live Feed posts, and Messaging Channels, you can help attendees manage their notification preferences and ensure they receive important updates without feeling overwhelmed.

When to use

  • When onboarding attendees to your event platform
  • When preparing pre-event communications
  • When creating event FAQs or help documentation
  • When responding to attendee questions about notifications
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to access notification settings.

How to do it

Navigate to your event dashboard in Cadence.
Select "Notifications" from the left sidebar menu.
Click the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Review your current notification settings to understand what attendees will experience.
Create a clear explanation of Schedule Reminders for your attendees.
Example: "You'll receive automatic reminders X minutes before your scheduled sessions begin to help you arrive on time."
Explain Live Feed notification behavior based on your configuration.
If enabled, attendees will receive notifications for all Live Feed posts. If disabled, they'll only receive notifications when mentioned or when a connection posts.
Clarify Messaging Channels notifications in your communication.
Be sure to explain that private channel members always receive notifications regardless of settings, which can't be disabled.
Include instructions for managing notifications on mobile devices.
Create a notification with this information to send to all attendees.
Add this information to your event FAQ or welcome materials.
Consider creating a Live Feed post explaining notification behaviors that can be pinned for visibility.
Remind attendees that they can control push notifications through their device settings.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report not receiving notifications:
  • Verify they haven't disabled push notifications on their devices
  • Confirm they have the latest version of the Cadence mobile app (v2.7.404 for Android or v2.7.393 for iOS)
  • Check that your notification settings are properly saved in your event
