Coordinate Onboarding Settings with Event Registration Settings
The Onboarding › Fields section in Cadence allows you to align your event registration form fields with the onboarding experience for attendees. By coordinating these settings, you can ensure a seamless transition from registration to first login, avoiding duplicate questions while still collecting all necessary information.
When to use
When setting up registration and onboarding for a new event
When modifying existing registration forms and need to update onboarding
When you want to avoid asking attendees for the same information twice
When using third-party registration platforms that integrate with Cadence
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding and registration settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Fields" tab at the top of the page.
Review your registration form settings first.
Navigate to People › Registration › Registration Form to see what fields you're already collecting during registration.
Return to the Onboarding › Fields section.
Check the "Enable Event-Level Custom Fields" box if you need to collect additional event-specific information.
You can click the "here" link to set up or edit your event-level custom fields if needed.
Choose "Selected fields" instead of "All fields" to have more control over the onboarding experience.
Select only fields that weren't already collected during registration.
Asking for the same information twice can frustrate attendees and reduce onboarding completion rates.
Consider which fields are essential for event participation versus nice-to-have information.
Prioritize fields that enable personalization features or are required for specific event functionality.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the full registration-to-onboarding flow by creating a test registration and completing onboarding.
You can reset onboarding for a test user in Event Setup › Onboarding › Reset Onboarding.
Troubleshooting
If registration data isn't properly flowing to user profiles:
Verify that registration form fields are correctly mapped to profile fields
Check that custom fields have compatible field types between registration and profiles
Ensure the onboarding flow is enabled in the Settings tab
