Enable Topics for attendee profiles and recommendations
Topics allow attendees to select interests during onboarding and on their profiles, enabling the platform to suggest relevant connections with similar interests. Enabling this feature requires configuration at both the account and event levels to create a more personalized networking experience.
When to use
When you want to enhance networking opportunities at your event
When you want to provide personalized connection recommendations
When you want attendees to find others with similar interests
When you want to categorize attendees by professional interests
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to enable Topics.
How to do it
Access the Admin dashboard for your event.
Navigate to the Onboarding section in the left sidebar menu.
Select the "Options" tab at the top of the page.
Locate the "Enable Topics" option.
If Topics are already configured at the account level, you'll see a message indicating their current status.
Toggle the "Enable Topics" switch to the ON position.
Configure topic settings by clicking on the "Topics" tab.
Add topics by clicking the "+" button.
You can either create individual topics or select from existing account-level topics.
Set permissions by returning to the "Options" tab and checking "Allow Attendees to create Topics" if you want attendees to add their own topics.
Save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Verify that Topics appear in the onboarding flow by previewing the onboarding experience.
Troubleshooting
If Topics don't appear in the onboarding flow or on attendee profiles:
Confirm that you've enabled both Topics and Onboarding features
Check that you've added at least one topic in the Topics tab
Verify that the event has the correct license type that supports Topics
