Document Your Custom Company Terminology for Team Reference
The Companies feature in Cadence allows you to customize terminology used throughout your company interfaces. After customizing labels in the Companies Menu › Settings section, documenting these choices helps ensure all team members understand and consistently use your custom terminology, creating a more cohesive experience for both your team and attendees.
When to use
When implementing custom company labels across multiple events
When onboarding new team members to your event management process
When creating style guides for your organization's events
When preparing handoff documentation for event management transitions
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to access the Companies Settings. Any custom labels should already be configured before documenting them.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Companies" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Settings" from the submenu that appears.
Review your current label customizations.
Take screenshots of your label settings to include in your documentation.
Create a documentation file using your preferred tool (Word, Google Docs, etc.).
Add a title that clearly identifies the document purpose and event name.
Include the date of documentation and the name of the person who configured the labels.
Document each custom label with its original term and customized replacement.
For example: "Custom room name" has been customized from "Room ABCD" to "Meeting Suite" throughout the attendee interface.
Note any specific reasons for label customizations to provide context.
Explaining why certain terms were chosen helps team members understand and remember the custom terminology.
List all places where these custom labels appear in the attendee experience.
Remember that custom labels appear on web and mobile apps but continue to show the original labels in the admin interface.
Save your documentation in a shared location accessible to all team members.
Distribute the documentation to your event team and stakeholders.
Update the documentation whenever label customizations change.
