How to import leads from an Excel file

The Leads import feature allows you to add multiple leads to your event at once using a standardized Excel template. This is especially useful when you have pre-registered attendees or want to create custom QR codes for badge scanning. The import process validates your data and helps you manage large numbers of leads efficiently.

When to use

  • When you need to add multiple leads at once
  • When creating custom QR codes for badge scanning
  • When importing lead information from another system
  • When preparing leads before an event starts
You must have Admin access to the event to import leads.

How to do it

Navigate to your event dashboard in Cadence Admin.
Select "Leads" from the left sidebar navigation.
Click on the "Leads List" tab.
Click the "Import" button in the upper right corner.
Download the template by clicking "Download Template" if this is your first import.
The template includes all standard fields and any custom fields you've created for leads.
Fill in the Excel template with your lead information.
Required fields include First Name, Last Name, and Email. The Lead ID field should be left blank for new leads.
    Save your completed Excel file.
Return to the Cadence Admin and click "Select File" to upload your completed template.
Review the validation results that appear after upload.
If there are errors in your file, the system will show which rows have issues that need correction.
Confirm the import by clicking "Import" after reviewing the validation results.
Wait for the import to complete. A success message will appear when finished.
Verify your imported leads by checking the Leads List.

Troubleshooting

If your import fails with column name errors for custom fields, ensure the column names in your Excel file exactly match the custom field names in your Cadence event, including spacing and capitalization.
