How to address registration capacity issues

Address Registration Capacity Issues

The Registration Menu in Cadence allows you to manage event capacity limits and troubleshoot related issues when attendees can't register. Through the Registration Menu › Settings section, you can identify and resolve common capacity problems including incorrect capacity settings, guest registration conflicts, and waitlist configuration issues.

When to use

  • When attendees report being unable to register despite available spots
  • When capacity counts seem incorrect or inconsistent
  • When guest registration is affecting your capacity calculations
  • When waitlist functionality isn't working as expected
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify registration capacity settings.

How to do it

    Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
    Click on "People" in the left sidebar menu.
    Select "Registration" from the submenu that appears.
    Verify the "Attendee Capacity" setting.
If capacity is set to zero or blank, the system treats it as unlimited capacity.
    Check if "Enable Event Registration" is toggled on.
If this setting is disabled, no one can register regardless of capacity settings.
    Review the current attendee count in the Registration List.
    Compare the attendee count with your capacity limit to confirm available spots.
    Examine guest registration settings if enabled.
Each guest counts toward your total capacity, which may explain why capacity seems to be reached prematurely.
    Verify that the registration close date hasn't passed if you've set one.
    Check if "Close Registration" is manually toggled on.
    Inspect waitlist settings if you're using this feature.
    Make necessary adjustments to capacity settings.
    Click "Save" to apply your changes.

Troubleshooting

If capacity issues persist after checking settings:
  • Verify that the event license type supports your desired capacity (Essential events are limited to 5 attendees)
  • Check if any recently unregistered attendees haven't been properly removed from the count
  • Confirm that guest registration counts are being calculated correctly
  • Ensure waitlist settings aren't conflicting with capacity management
