Balance Information Collection with User Experience

The Onboarding menu in Cadence allows you to create a welcoming experience for attendees when they first access your event. Through the Onboarding › Video section, you can add engaging video content while being mindful of the overall information collection process to ensure high completion rates.

When to use

  • When designing your event's onboarding flow
  • When adding video content to complement profile information collection
  • When seeking to improve onboarding completion rates
  • When creating a balanced first impression for attendees
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding settings.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Video" tab at the top of the page.
Check the "Add Video to Onboarding" box to enable video content.
Enter a concise header in the "Header Text" field.
Keep your header text brief and welcoming, such as "Welcome!" or "Quick Introduction".
Upload a short video that introduces your event or provides key information.
Keep videos under 60 seconds for optimal engagement. Longer videos may cause attendees to abandon the onboarding process.
Review your complete onboarding flow by navigating through all tabs (Fields, Settings, Welcome, Terms & Conditions, and Video).
Assess the total time required to complete all onboarding steps.
If your complete onboarding process takes more than 3-5 minutes, consider reducing the number of required fields or shortening your video.
Save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Test the complete onboarding experience using a test account.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report abandoning the onboarding process:
  • Ensure your video loads properly across different devices and connection speeds
  • Check that the total number of required fields across all onboarding steps is reasonable
  • Consider making some fields optional rather than required
