Optimize Video Content for Different Devices
Adding video content to your event onboarding process creates an engaging welcome experience, but requires optimization to ensure proper playback across all devices. From the Onboarding › Video tab, you can configure video settings that work seamlessly on both web browsers and mobile applications.
When to use
When adding welcome videos to your onboarding process
When attendees will access your event from multiple device types
When experiencing playback issues on certain devices
When you need to ensure consistent video performance
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding video settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Video" tab at the top of the page.
Enter a header for your video in the "Header Text" field.
Click the "Video Material" dropdown menu.
Upload a new MP4 video file directly to Cadence.
Video materials added via embedded code, YouTube or Vimeo URL are not supported on mobile apps for playback within onboarding.
Keep your video file under 100MB for optimal performance.
Enable HLS streaming for smoother playback if you have an @eventcadence.com account.
HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) adapts video quality based on the viewer's connection speed, providing better performance on mobile devices.
Set the video resolution to 720p or lower for compatibility across devices.
Preview your video on both desktop and mobile devices before publishing.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the video by resetting onboarding for a test user account.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report video playback issues:
Verify the video is in MP4 format
Confirm the file size is under 100MB
Check that attendees are using the latest version of the Cadence mobile app
Ensure the video doesn't contain unsupported features like embedded links
