How to control which users can create and edit Collections
The Collections feature in Cadence allows you to manage who can create and edit content resources in your event. From the Collections Menu › Settings area, you can configure permissions that determine whether regular users can add to collections or if this ability is restricted to administrators only, ensuring appropriate content governance while still allowing for collaboration.
When to use
When you need to restrict collection creation to administrators only
When you want to allow specific users to contribute to collections
When implementing content governance policies for your event
When managing collections across multiple user groups
Before you start
You must have System Administrator permissions to modify collection creation settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Collections" from the left sidebar navigation.
Click on "Settings" in the Collections menu.
Locate the "User Permissions" section.
Find the "Allow users to add content to collections" setting.
When enabled, this setting allows regular users to add content to existing collections, but they cannot create new collections.
Toggle the setting on or off based on your requirements.
Disabling this setting will restrict content addition to administrators only, which may limit collaboration.
Review the "Allow users to create and manage Collections" setting if available.
For most events, enabling content addition while restricting collection creation provides a good balance of collaboration and control.
Configure any additional collection settings as needed.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the permissions by logging in as a regular user to verify the expected behavior.
Troubleshooting
If users report they cannot add content to collections despite settings being enabled:
Verify they have the correct user role in your event
Check if the specific collection has additional visibility restrictions
Ensure the Collections menu item is visible to the user's group
