How to set up automatic engagement creation for matched leads
The Lead Matching feature in Cadence can automatically create engagement records when leads are matched with existing customers. This article explains how to configure the automatic engagement creation settings in the Leads Menu › Settings section, allowing you to streamline follow-up activities by generating engagement records whenever a lead is matched to a customer profile.
When to use
When you want to automatically track lead interactions as customer engagements
When you need to create consistent engagement records from lead scans
When organizing post-event follow-up with matched customers
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to configure these settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Leads" from the left sidebar navigation.
Click on "Settings" from the Leads submenu.
Scroll down to the "Customer Matching" section.
Check the "Enable Customer Matching" box.
When enabled, the system will automatically attempt to match scanned leads with existing customer profiles.
Select an Ensemble form from the dropdown menu.
If no Ensemble form is selected, leads will still be matched to customers, but no engagement records will be created automatically.
Enter a name format for the automated engagements in the "Automated Ensemble Name" field.
You can use placeholders like [EventName] and [CustomerName] in your naming format to create descriptive engagement titles.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the configuration by scanning a lead and confirming a customer match.
Verify that an engagement record was created in the matched customer's profile.
Troubleshooting
If automatic engagements aren't being created:
Verify that both Customer Matching is enabled and an Ensemble form is selected
Confirm your Cadence license includes the Ensemble feature
Check that users have the appropriate permissions to create engagements
Ensure the selected Ensemble form is still active and available
