How to set up video chat capabilities

The video chat feature in Cadence allows attendees to have face-to-face conversations directly through the platform. By configuring these settings in the Attendees Menu, you can control whether all attendees can video chat freely or restrict this capability to connected attendees only, creating the right balance of networking and privacy for your event.

When to use

  • When you want to enable real-time video networking between attendees
  • When planning events with networking components
  • When you need to restrict video communication to connected attendees only
  • When creating a more interactive virtual or hybrid event experience

Before you start

You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify these settings.

How to do it

    Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
    Select "People" from the left sidebar menu.
    Click "Attendees" in the submenu.
    Choose the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
    Enable video chat by checking the "Enable Video Chat" option.
Video chat works best when attendees have also completed their profiles with photos to create a more personal connection.
    Decide on connection requirements by checking or unchecking the "Only Connections" option.
When "Only Connections" is enabled, attendees must first connect with each other before initiating video chats.
    Consider related settings that affect communication:
  • "Enable Public Profiles" must be checked for attendees to see each other
  • "Enable Direct Messaging" allows text communication alongside video
    Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Changes to video chat settings will affect all users in your event immediately.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report issues with video chat functionality:
  • Verify that their browser permissions for camera and microphone are enabled
  • Confirm they have a stable internet connection
  • Check that they are connected with the other attendee if "Only Connections" is enabled
