Manage Onboarding Settings Across Web and Mobile Platforms

The Onboarding menu in Cadence allows you to configure what information attendees must provide when they first access your event. When properly configured, your onboarding flow should function consistently across web browsers, iOS devices, and Android devices, ensuring all attendees have a smooth experience regardless of which platform they use.

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding field settings.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Fields" tab at the top of the page.
Check the "Enable Event-Level Custom Fields" box if you want to collect event-specific information.
You can click the "here" link to set up or edit your event-level custom fields if needed.
Choose "Selected fields" instead of "All fields" to limit the number of questions.
Limiting fields to only essential information can significantly improve completion rates, especially on mobile devices.
Select only the most critical fields that provide value to both attendees and organizers.
Prioritize simple field types like single-select dropdowns and short text fields for mobile users.
Complex field types like multi-select dropdowns may be difficult to complete on smaller screens.
Click "Save" to apply your changes.
Test the onboarding flow on multiple devices:
  • Reset onboarding for a test user (Event Setup → Onboarding → Reset Onboarding)
  • Test on a web browser
  • Test on an iOS device
  • Test on an Android device
Verify that all fields display and function properly across all platforms.

Troubleshooting

If onboarding doesn't work consistently across platforms:
  • Clear cache and cookies on web browsers and restart mobile apps
  • Verify that custom fields don't contain special characters that might cause display issues
  • Ensure all required fields have default values or clear instructions
  • Check that the onboarding flow is enabled in the Settings tab
  • For Android users experiencing crashes, ensure they have the latest app version (2.7.414 or higher)
