How to allow or restrict attendees from hiding themselves
The Attendees Settings section in Cadence allows you to control whether participants can hide themselves from the attendee directory. This privacy option gives attendees control over their visibility while still allowing them to access event content. When enabled, attendees can choose to be hidden, making them invisible in the attendee list and preventing other participants from messaging them.
When to use
When planning events where some attendees may require privacy
When managing events with sensitive participants
When balancing networking opportunities with privacy concerns
When some attendees are staff or administrators who shouldn't appear in the directory
Before you start
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to modify these settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "People" from the left sidebar menu.
Click "Attendees" in the submenu.
Choose the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Locate the "Allow attendees to become hidden" checkbox in the settings section.
Check the box to enable the option, allowing attendees to hide themselves.
Consider how this setting works with your other visibility settings. If you've enabled "Public Profiles," hidden attendees will be exceptions to this rule.
Uncheck the box to disable the option, preventing attendees from hiding themselves.
Changing this setting after attendees have already hidden themselves will not automatically make them visible again. They will remain hidden until they change their status.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report they cannot find the option to hide themselves:
Verify the "Allow attendees to become hidden" setting is enabled
Confirm they are looking in their profile settings, accessible from their profile icon
Check that they have completed the onboarding process where this option is initially presented
