How to use check-in data for post-event analysis

The Event Check-In feature in Cadence collects valuable attendance data that can be transformed into meaningful insights after your event concludes. By analyzing check-in statistics alongside other event metrics, you can measure engagement, identify attendance patterns, and make data-driven decisions for future events.

When to use

  • When evaluating event success and attendance metrics
  • When analyzing participation patterns across different attendee segments
  • When preparing post-event reports for stakeholders
  • When planning improvements for future events

Before you start

You must have Admin, Event Manager, or Event Scheduler permissions to access check-in data and reports.

How to do it

Export check-in data from your event dashboard.
  • Navigate to People → Event Check-In
  • Click the "Export" button in the upper right corner
Analyze attendance percentages by reviewing the check-in statistics.
  • Compare actual check-ins against registered attendees
  • Note differences between internal and external attendee check-in rates
Segment your data by attendee type or other relevant categories.
  • Filter the exported data by department, role, or customer type
  • Look for patterns in attendance across different segments
Compare day-by-day attendance if you used the "Check-In Per Event Day" option.
  • Identify which days had the highest and lowest attendance
  • Note attendance drop-off patterns across multi-day events
Cross-reference check-in data with other event metrics.
  • Export appointment attendance and schedule item participation reports
  • Combine these with check-in data to measure overall engagement
Create visualizations to better understand attendance patterns.
  • Use spreadsheet tools to create charts showing check-in rates over time
  • Visualize attendance by attendee segment or event day
Calculate key performance indicators based on check-in data.
  • Determine the percentage of registered attendees who actually attended
  • Compare attendance rates to previous events or industry benchmarks
Document insights and recommendations for future events.
  • Note which attendee segments had the highest and lowest attendance
  • Identify factors that may have influenced check-in rates
    Share findings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Create a concise summary of attendance metrics and insights
  • Include recommendations for improving attendance at future events
For multi-day events, look for patterns in when attendees checked in and out to optimize future scheduling.

Troubleshooting

If you switched from "Check-In Per Event Day" to "Overall Event Check-In" during your event, your day-specific check-in data may have been consolidated, affecting your ability to analyze daily attendance patterns.
