How to manage location types

Manage Location Types

The Location Types feature in Cadence allows you to categorize meeting spaces by purpose or department, making it easier to organize and filter rooms when scheduling appointments. Through the Appointments Menu › Settings section, you can enable this feature and create custom location type categories such as "Commercial," "Medical," or department-specific designations to help teams quickly find appropriate meeting spaces.

When to use

  • When organizing rooms by department or function
  • When filtering location availability by room type
  • When managing different types of meeting spaces across venues
  • When teams need to quickly identify specific room categories

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to manage location types. This feature must be enabled before location types can be assigned to rooms.

How to do it

Navigate to your event dashboard in Cadence.
Click on "Appointments" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
Scroll down to find the "Enable Location Types" checkbox.
Toggle on the checkbox to enable location types for your event.
Location types are particularly useful for events with multiple room categories or when different teams need access to specific types of spaces.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Navigate to the "Rooms" section under Appointments.
Select an existing room or create a new one.
Locate the "Location Type" field that now appears in the room details.
Enter a location type name (e.g., "Commercial," "Medical," "Kite").
Location types are free-form text fields that can be customized to match your organization's terminology.
Save the room settings to apply the location type.
Repeat for other rooms, assigning appropriate location types to each.

Troubleshooting

If location types aren't appearing in the Location Availability filters:
  • Verify that you've saved your settings after enabling location types
  • Check that at least one room has been assigned a location type
  • Refresh your browser or clear cache if the feature doesn't appear immediately
